What makes ORP Different?
The Oakhurst Recovery Program specializes in addressing the common, interrelated barriers to housing that result from chemical dependency. Residents are provided complete room and board (each resident having his own bedroom) while they begin their journey of recovery. The typical length of stay for ORP residents is between 9 and 14 months, though residents are permitted to stay up to a maximum of 24 months. This long-term, holistic approach is essential to treating the underlying problem of addiction.
Each resident's progress is monitored and documented by the Executive Director in consultation with staff, group leaders and counselors. The program utilizes a structured system of 5 Levels and is based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. While every resident is expected to achieve specific goals as they progress through the program, there is also a strong emphasis placed on the uniqueness of each individual's rate and manner of progression.
ORP residents receive intensive individual and group counseling. Residents also attend AA or NA meetings every day together. In addition, residents actively participate in workshops and training sessions that focus on financial management, spirituality, wellness, workplace etiquette and other topics that challenge and encourage the residents as their lives are restored to sanity through recovery. This comprehensive approach allows residents to practice the principles of recovery and their new drug-free lifestyle in an environment designed to strengthen their support network and decrease the likelihood of relapse.
